Why do I have spots of skin which do not tan?

Every year during the spring/summer, I get a little darker, however there are some spots which do not change at all. Some of these spots are on my face and its a little embarrassing. Why do I have spots of skin which do not tan?
My friend gets that too and you shouldn't be embarassed, its just where the pigment in the skin is different, like freckles, theyre just darker bits of skin which you get when your skin colour is determined from your parent's genes, if one is very dark and one very fair then the alleles (inside a gene) will be very different. Also, i think they probably won't tan because of melonin in your skin, this takes in the sun and goes brown, fair people burn easily because they have less Melonin in their skin. These patches you have will not contain much melonin because its diferent to the rest of you and therefore won't tan as well. fake tans on't tend to cover these up completely either but they can help!!!Why do I have spots of skin which do not tan?
Ok it's called Melasma, it's a skin darkening, can be caused by sun, old scars from pimples etc. You need a skin bleaching cream from a dermatologist, Tri-Luma, very expensive applied once at bedtime, will fix the problem. Based on your avatar I assume your black, even black people need a SPF lotion against the harmful rays of the sun. We are not immune to skin discolorations or cancer for that matter.
Its the way you were made. You have a lesser concentration of melanocytes (pigment cells) on certain points on your face. Blame it on mother nature. Use a moisturizer with a higher spf. You don't need a tan on your face. Buy a brimmed hat. You do not need to buy a skin lightener, thats for people who have hyperpigmentation. You're the opposite.
You need to exfoliate %26amp; wear a good tanning lotion with a high SPF.
